These terms apply to all services provided by Automotive Investment Group Pty Ltd (ABN 74 657 797 156) trading as Sydney Pink Slips, licence number MVRL62542. By booking an inspection with us, you agree to these terms.
We provide mobile vehicle inspection services across the Sydney metropolitan area, including:
A mobile pink slip inspection is $149 regardless of vehicle type. That total is made up of two components: the government inspection fee, which is set by Transport for NSW and differs by vehicle type, and our mobile call out fee, which varies so that the total remains $149.
| Vehicle type | Government fee | Call out fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light vehicle | $51 | $98 | $149 |
| Motorcycle | $29 | $120 | $149 |
| Trailer without brakes | $27 | $122 | $149 |
| Trailer with brakes | $41 | $108 | $149 |
The $149 is the total payable at a location within our usual service area. There is nothing further to pay on the day.
Where a fee is charged under these terms as a call out fee, the amount charged is the call out fee for your vehicle type as set out in the table above. The government inspection fee is not charged where no inspection is carried out.
A pre purchase inspection is $299.
Locations outside our usual service area, and urgent or out of hours requests, may attract an additional charge. Where an additional charge applies we will tell you the amount before the booking is confirmed.
Prices are current at the date shown above and may change. The price quoted at the time you book is the price that applies to that booking.
Bookings are made through our online booking system or by telephone. Payment is required at the time of booking. A booking is confirmed once payment is received and you receive a confirmation from us.
You are responsible for giving us accurate information, including the correct address, contact number and vehicle details. We are not responsible for a failed or delayed attendance caused by incorrect information.
To carry out the inspection we need:
We may decline to carry out an inspection where the location is unsafe, where the weather makes a safe inspection impossible, or where the vehicle is not accessible. Where we decline for one of these reasons after attending, the failed attendance fee in section 5 applies.
A pink slip inspection assesses whether your vehicle meets the minimum safety standards set by Transport for NSW at the time of inspection. It is not a mechanical service, a roadworthiness guarantee, or an assessment of the overall condition or future reliability of the vehicle.
We are bound by the rules of the Authorised Inspection Scheme. We cannot pass a vehicle that does not meet the required standards, and we cannot negotiate, waive or overlook a defect. Requesting that we do so will end the inspection and no refund will be given.
Where a vehicle passes, the result is submitted electronically to Transport for NSW. You are then responsible for completing your registration renewal with Service NSW. We do not renew your registration for you.
Where a vehicle does not pass, we will explain the reasons and what is required to rectify them.
Our inspector may be able to carry out minor repairs on the spot, such as replacing a globe or a wiper blade, where the part is available and the repair can be done safely. Any parts used are charged separately and quoted to you first. Major repairs are not carried out at the roadside and will need to be completed by a workshop before we can reinspect.
You may have the vehicle reinspected within 14 days of the original inspection. The reinspection itself is free of charge, meaning no further government inspection fee is payable. The call out fee for your vehicle type applies to the return visit, because a second attendance is required.
Where a reinspection is booked and we attend but cannot complete it for any of the reasons in section 5, the call out fee for your vehicle type is charged for that attendance.
After 14 days, a full inspection at the standard price applies.
A pre purchase inspection is a visual and non invasive assessment carried out at the location of the vehicle. It does not involve dismantling the vehicle, removing components, or road testing beyond what is reasonable and lawful.
A pre purchase inspection reports on what was reasonably observable on the day. It is not a warranty or guarantee about the vehicle, and it cannot identify concealed faults, intermittent faults, or faults that develop later. The decision to buy a vehicle is yours.
Our inspector takes photographs, and sometimes video, of your vehicle during every inspection. This is a necessary part of the service and forms part of the inspection record.
By booking with us you agree that we may use those images in our own marketing and promotional material, including our website, social media, advertising, printed material and material given to a prospective purchaser of our business, on the following basis:
You may withdraw your agreement to marketing use at any time, before or after the inspection, by telling your inspector or emailing us. There is no cost and it will not affect your service. Where an image has already been published we will remove it from material we control within a reasonable period, though we cannot recover copies already shared or reposted by others.
Withdrawing agreement to marketing use does not affect images retained as part of the inspection record, which we are required to keep.
Where you are not the owner of the vehicle, you confirm that you have the owner's authority to agree to this clause on their behalf.
You confirm that you are the owner of the vehicle or are authorised by the owner to arrange the inspection, and that the vehicle is not subject to any circumstance that would make an inspection unlawful or unsafe.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, and for ensuring the vehicle is in a condition that allows an inspection to take place, including being reasonably clean and free of items that obstruct access.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees. For major failures you are entitled to a replacement service or a refund, and to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Where our liability can lawfully be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having the service resupplied.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss arising from a decision you make on the basis of an inspection report, for pre existing damage or faults in the vehicle, or for the acts of Transport for NSW or Service NSW.
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please notify us using the details in section 15 and we will work with you to resolve it.
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, and you and we submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you make a booking applies to that booking.
All content on this website, including text, images, logos and branding, is owned by us or licensed to us and may not be reproduced without permission.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.
