Most mobile inspectors only do cars. We do motorcycles and trailers too, at the same $149, and we still come to you. Your bike does not need to be ridden anywhere and your trailer does not need to be towed anywhere.

If your motorcycle or trailer is over five years old and registered in NSW, it needs a pink slip, officially an e-Safety check, before you can renew the registration. The rules are the same as for a car. The inspection is different, and so is the government fee.

The total is $149 for every vehicle type. What changes is the split between the government inspection fee, which Transport for NSW sets, and our mobile call out fee.

There is nothing further to pay on the day anywhere within our usual service area.

We inspect road registered motorcycles and scooters at your home, workplace, or wherever the bike is kept. Garage, carport, driveway or street, as long as our inspector can get to it safely.

What gets checked

• Tyres, tread depth and condition, and wheel condition
• Front and rear brakes, including pads, discs and hydraulic lines
• Chain or belt condition and adjustment
• Steering head bearings and front forks
• Rear suspension and swingarm
• Headlight, tail light, brake light and indicators
• Horn, mirrors and speedometer
• Exhaust condition and mounting
• Frame condition, including cracks, rust and prior repair
• Handlebars, levers, footpegs and stands
• Fuel system for leaks
• Chassis and engine number verification

The inspection takes about 20 minutes for most bikes. If it passes, the result is submitted electronically to Transport for NSW and you can renew your registration straight away.

We inspect box trailers, car trailers, camper trailers, boat trailers and plant trailers, braked and unbraked. If the trailer is registered in NSW and over five years old, it needs a pink slip to renew.

What gets checked

• Tyres, tread depth, condition and age, including the spare where fitted
• Wheel bearings and hubs
• Brakes and brake controller operation, where the trailer is braked
• Breakaway system on trailers that require one
• Coupling, safety chains and shackles
• Jockey wheel and stands
• Tail lights, brake lights, indicators and number plate light
• Reflectors and required markings
• Wiring and plug condition
• Chassis, drawbar and frame for cracks, rust and prior repair
• Suspension, springs and shackles
• Body, floor, sides, gates and mudguards
• Chassis number verification

Braked or unbraked

The government fee differs between the two, $41 for a braked trailer and $27 for an unbraked trailer, but your total is $149 either way. If you are not sure which yours is, tell us the ATM or GTM from the compliance plate when you book and we will work it out. As a rule, trailers over 750kg loaded require brakes.

We will explain exactly what failed and why, in plain English, with no pressure and no obligation to have us fix it.

Our inspector may be able to sort minor items on the spot, such as a blown globe or a worn wiper blade, where the part is on hand and the repair can be done safely. Parts are charged separately and quoted to you first. Major repairs are not carried out at the roadside and will need a workshop before we can reinspect.

You have 14 days to have the faults rectified. The reinspection itself is free within that period, meaning no further government inspection fee. The call out fee for your vehicle type still applies to the return visit, because a second attendance is required.

Do you really come to me for a motorcycle pink slip?

Yes. Our inspector comes to your home, workplace or storage unit. The bike does not need to be ridden anywhere, which matters if the registration has already lapsed.

Can you inspect a trailer at my house?

Yes. We inspect trailers wherever they are parked, so long as our inspector can get around the trailer safely and the coupling is accessible. You do not need to tow it anywhere.

Is a motorcycle pink slip cheaper than a car one?

The government fee is lower for a motorcycle, $29 against $51 for a car. Our total is $149 either way, because the call out cost to us is the same. What you get for that is a licensed inspector at your door instead of a trip to a workshop.

My trailer registration has expired. Can you still inspect it?

Yes. An unregistered trailer cannot legally be towed on the road, which is exactly the situation a mobile inspection solves. We come to the trailer.

Does my trailer need brakes?

Generally, a trailer with an aggregate trailer mass over 750kg requires brakes. Check the compliance plate. If you are unsure, tell us what it says when you book.

How long is the pink slip valid?

Six months from the date of issue, the same as for a car. You can renew your registration any time inside that window.

Do you inspect boat trailers and camper trailers?

Yes, along with box trailers, car trailers and plant trailers. If it is registered in NSW and needs an e-Safety check, we can inspect it.
